In 2002, I had the career, the six-figure salary, the canal house in Amsterdam—and a baby on the way.
My daughter Kayla! The office was cluttered, diapers stacked in the corner, and the to‑do list never ended. But the dream was alive.
What was confusing was that I had everything I thought I wanted—everything that was supposed to make me feel successful, secure, and dare I say happy. From the outside, my life might have looked curated, like something you'd screenshot for inspiration.

So I walked away.
