If you're like me, you thought “having it all” was the dream—work, motherhood, maybe even a little time for yourself.

But many of us came to realize we were trying to build a life of wholeness in a system that wasn’t designed for us.

We didn’t want just a seat at the table—we needed a new table entirely.

So we built it. It wasn’t easy. But we did the hard work, hoping the next generation—our daughters, our nieces, the women coming up behind us—would have a smoother path.

And yet, deep down, we know the ecosystem isn’t fixed. Not yet.

That’s why I wrote this book: The Business of Freedom isn’t just a book—it’s a framework to help women reimagine what’s possible, reclaim their time and voice, and restore a sense of safety and agency in their lives.

But one book alone can’t shift the structural imbalance that still exists. It can’t fix the fact that women still receive only 2% of venture capital. It can’t rewrite the policies that punish caregivers, or undo the economic fallout of invisible labor.

But maybe—together—we can move the needle.

In 2002, I had the career, the six-figure salary, the canal house in Amsterdam—and a baby on the way.

My daughter Kayla! The office was cluttered, diapers stacked in the corner, and the to‑do list never ended. But the dream was alive.

What was confusing was that I had everything I thought I wanted—everything that was supposed to make me feel successful, secure, and dare I say happy. From the outside, my life might have looked curated, like something you'd screenshot for inspiration.

But inside, something wasn’t working.

I didn't have time. Or peace. Or a version of success that made sense for the life I wanted to live.

So I walked away.

I bought a boutique hotel, served breakfast instead of quarterly reports, and built a business around my life—not the other way around.

It wasn’t easy. I made mistakes. I found my way by feel, often in the dark.

But I did find a way.

This book is the guide I wish I had back then—for every woman who's asking,

“Can I really do this differently?”

Table Builders get access to the book and program because we believe you can’t champion what you haven’t experienced. But your role isn’t just to read—it’s to amplify, to uplift, and to help shape what this becomes for others.

This is about impact. About changing the ecosystem. And about making sure the women coming up behind you don’t have to figure it all out alone.

What if I don't want to join the Zoom calls?

That’s completely okay. There’s no pressure to show up or speak up unless it feels aligned.

But if you do decide to join us, know this: your presence adds something powerful. These quarterly salons aren’t performative masterminds—they’re real conversations, shaped by the lived wisdom of women who’ve walked different paths.
